The Biggest Ten Problems of Traditional Training:
- Very few participants committed to the training. Employees do not want to attend training either because of lack of time or just don’t want to participate.
- Those who are forced to attend bring with them the attitude of a prisoner. You can see it right out at their face when attending the training.
- Worn-out, burnt-out training professionals with no passion for facilitating great learning. Sometime there is no two way communication on the training because of this problem.
- Old, tired, and outdated content that does not resonate with participants. Some trainer don’t even think to update their data or information rather than using the same training material every time. Updated information is very crucial in any training.
- Irrelevant topics that do not help participants face real-world challenges. People love to learn new ideas, strategies and tactic for them to use in their real world operation rather than the one that comes from standard text book found in any bookstore or school.
- Impersonal content disconnected from people’s needs and preferences. Relate as much as it can the training material with the trainee every time at the training.
- Passive attendees with no opportunities to contribute or get involved. Create a conducive atmosphere for everyone (trainee) to participate and contribute in any training.
- Poor delivery that relies on ineffective methods such as one-way lecture type presentations. Communication is the king. To succeed in any training or workshop, you need to bring communication alive two way.
- The facilitator does not speak to the interest of the audience nor use the language of the audience. Major problem with lack of training skill by the trainer. Trainer should always try to find the interest of their trainee and communicate with trainee with the language they normally use.
- Poorly designed, physically inhospitable facilities that are closer to being torture chambers than learning facilities. Lack of training material and conducive training facilities can make many training bored and eventually gives a bad reps to the entire training.
The Result
Very little, if any, learning takes place, resulting in wasted time, efforts, and resources, costly missed opportunities, deprivation of people and organizations of critically needed competencies, and bad feelings on the part of all involved. It is a tragedy of multi-billion dollar proportions suffered by a good number of organizations throughout the world.
